A Sustainable Hotels Program at the Elan Hotel
The Elan An Environmentally Friendly Hotel -
Ever wonder what happens to the little bottles of soap, conditioner, and lotion you don't use up when staying at hotels? Do they simply get thrown or flushed away? Not at the Elan Hotel. Greystone Hotels is pleased to be a part of Clean the Word, a green hotels program that improves the environment and people's lives. The concept is simple and unique. It also gives back in more ways than one. Clean the World takes discarded shampoos and soaps that are usually thrown away from participating hotels, filling up landfills or sewage treatment plans. But what happens next?
Preventing Hygiene-related Diseases Around the World -
Clean the World processes the surplus products so that they can be reused. They then donate the shampoos, soaps, and other bath amenities to domestic homeless shelters and impoverished nations. In a simple way, they've figured out how to save lives by curtailing hygiene-related diseases.
Clean the World has partnered with a growing number of hotels, including the Elan Hotel, the Bristol Hotel, the King George Hotel, and the Creekside Inn. Since its inception four years ago, Clean the World has recycled over 12 million bars of soap in the U.S. and Canada, and 67 other countries. The Elan Hotel is proud to be a part of this worthy cause.
