Opening Night at the Hollywood Bowl

Opening Night at the Hollywood Bowl Since 1922, the Hollywood Bowl has held some of the best summer concerts in the country. It’s been home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic since the orchestra inaugurated its first season, and in those 91 years, some of the world’s most memorable musicians and figures have appeared there, like Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Billie Holiday, Fred Astaire, Simon and Garfunkel and Queen. The Hollywood Bowl’s 2013 series starts Saturday, June 22 and will host a variety of music from classical and jazz to superstars like Josh Groban to world music.

Opening night at the Hollywood Bowl is an event unto itself, glamorous and headlined by huge stars. Proceeds benefit the LA Philharmonic Orchestra and its educational programs. This year’s opening night will feature performances by conductor Thomas Wilkins, Grammy winner Patti Austin, and R&B artist John Legend. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith will headline the performance as they are inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. The concert will start at 8pm June 22, and ticket prices range from $17 to $181.
