UCLA 2013 CommencementThe University of California Los Angeles was founded in 1919 and has been a world famous academic institution nearly ever since. It has been the site of major innovations, like the first open-heart surgery in the western US, the first node of the internet’s predecessor, ARPANET, and much more. Notable alumni of UCLA include Nobel laureates, filmmakers, politicians and more. This year, the latest wave of graduates will take their place among these ranks, with over 60 degree-conferring ceremonies, receptions and celebrations.
Commencement is an important rite of passage, and UCLA’s newest class will graduate from June 14-16, with the main events taking place at the newly renovated Pauley Pavilion. The keynote speaker at both the 2pm and 7pm ceremonies will be Basketball Hall of Famer and fellow UCLA alumna, Ann Meyers Drysdale.
