Taking a Tour of Trash on Earth Day -

For 43 years, Earth Day officially taking place on Apr. 22 has reminded us to treat our planet with care. In 2013, several Earth Day celebrations will take place in Los Angeles that promise to be informative and entertaining. The Elan Hotel will also be celebrating Earth Day by donating a portion of all room and meeting room revenue generated on April 22 to a leading nature conservation organization.

April 13th, the Sanitation District of Los Angeles County hosts a fun, family-friendly event. Entertainment will include dance and music performances and eco-friendly arts and crafts. Take a tour of a water reclamation plant or a follow the journey of your trash from bin to recycling center and landfill. Bring old shoes and eyeglasses to donate. This Earth Day event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1955 Workman Mill Road, Whittier.

Los Angeles Events for Kids and Adults -

The 13th Annual STAR Children's Earth Day happens Apr. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at STAR Eco Station 10101 Jefferson Blvd, Culver City. An "outdoor extravaganza," the event is free, and promises fun for kids of all ages. Celebrity guests include stars of Disney's A.N.T. Farm, Radio Disney, and Chi-Town Finest Breakers. There will be a maze of recycling, eco-friendly crafts, yummy foods, and green shopping.

WorldFest 2013 keeps the Earth Day mojo going throughout the spring. Held May 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., the music festival will educate and enlighten participants. Kids' activities, guest speakers, and delicious food round out the day at Woodley Park in Lake Balboa.
