During the holiday season all over the country and indeed
the world, you’ll find outdoor skating rinks in downtown areas, designed to
provide urbanites with a traditional winter experience. But Los Angeles’ ice
skating rink Downtown on Ice is the original model that inspired all the
others, and you can enjoy this outdoor attraction this season from November 15,
2012 to January 21, 2013. Located at Pershing Square. This 4500 square foot ice
skating rink in Los Angeles attracts children, teenagers and adults, all who
come to glide over the ice and enjoy a classic holiday treat.
At Downtown on Ice, you can rent ice skates for $8 or bring
your own skates and hit the rink for $6. Each one-hour skate session is
followed by a half-hour of ice resurfacing, necessary to keep the rink iced
during Southern California’s easy breezy winters. This downtown Los Angeles ice
skating rink is open Monday through Thursday noon to 10PM, Friday and Saturday
10AM to 10PM, except December 17 to January 6 10AM to 10PM daily and noon to
10PM on the holidays: Christmas, New Years Day and MLK Day.
