When LACMA celebrates a birthday, it goes all out! In just fifty years, the Los Angeles museum has become one of the most prestigious archetypes for world-class restoration and collections, and in honor of its fifth decade in the City of Angels, it's celebrating with a series of events running through the end of June. Join these events, open to the public, including the special LACMA 50th Anniversary exhibit entitled "50 for 50: Gifts on the Occasion of LACMA's Anniversary." The show will be a presentation of highlights from the bequest of A. Jerrold Perenchio, a collection from 19th and 20th centuries including artists Edgar Degas, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Edouard Vuillard and more. Featuring gifts from more than 25 donors, the renowned relationship that LACMA has with its donors has helped it maintain its collection of more than 120,000 objects. Featuring masterpieces from Claude Monet, Jean-Auguste-Dominque Ingres, Andy Warhol and more, this international sensation is not to be missed. To celebrate the LACMA 50th Anniversary, the museum is also offering family friendly activities for children of all ages. Every Sunday join in on the masterpiece fun by creating your own works of art to share. The BCAM will feature miniature cars zooming through Chris Burden's kinetic sculpture, Metropolis II in action, and enjoy free admission at the North Piazza from 12:30 until 3:30 every Sunday. It's all about sharing and caring as LACMA celebrates 50 years, with a fantastic list of celebrations and events throughout the month of June.
