The LA area is home to some of the most renowned universities in the United States. High-profile college graduations fill the city every late spring, and here are a few of the most notable:
University of Southern California (USC)
Los Angeles, CA 90089
May 16th at 9am
Hosted outdoors at Alumni Park, be sure to bring your own water to this graduation celebration. Guest seating is first-come, first-served, and it’s recommended that all attendees arrive by 7am. While the ceremony begins at 9am, students march at 8:30am, so be sure to arrive with ample time to watch your loved one walk onto the field. At 10:15am, the main ceremony ends, while satellite ceremonies and receptions for different degree programs commence over the next several hours.
University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
301 Westwood Plaza
Los Angeles, CA 90095
Friday, June 13th at 2pm & 7pm
The UCLA Bruins host more than 60 degree-conferring ceremonies throughout their pair of timeslots, so be sure to double-check the schedule when and where your student will be walking. While general commencement ceremonies are on Friday, June 13th, academic departments host events all weekend long. Nobel Prize-winning scientist and UCLA alum Randy Schekman will be the keynote speaker for both ceremonies at Pauley Pavilion.
